Description
Oil on recycled canvass, 16" x 20"
Did I ever have fun with this. Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
- One old canvass: the first colour portrait I ever did in a portrait painting class I took 3 years ago, in order to get over my fear of colour. It was horrible, but it was a start.
- some leftover paint sitting on my palette for over a week. Blobs of colour wrecklessly squeezed in excess out of the tube, not yet hardened (well, almost not)
- gfriedberg's image at [link]
- 2 bottles of Polish beer
- 1.5 hours of free time before bed
Instructions:
Eat well. Drink beer. Let the inspiration that's been at the back of your head for weeks free, and paint wantonly over that horrible early portrait that you just can't bear to throw out because it's a stretched canvass that you paid for.
Stop when you're finished, 1.5 hours later. No preliminary sketches, no underpainting, no special glazes. Do not overthink or overpaint. Just do it. Then stop.
Et voila!
